Suits You - Patty

Hey Everyone!

How is it already this time of the month? September has literally whizzed past and here we are with the monthly Suits You challenge, may I add the ONLY challenge I have managed to successfully stick to each month since creation. I know, I'm terrible!

So this month I have a lady that I am a huge fan of, Miss Patty Difusa. I absolutely love her style and couldn't wait to pick some awesome clothes for her.

Here are some pictures of the lovely lady herself that I worked from:

And here is the outfit I have put together. I chose Yours Clothing as I can see it's somewhere Patty shops and I have to say I have been splurging there a bit on the sly lately. *cough Hayley Hasselhoff jewelled collar dress*

So yes, these are the bits I picked.

I chose a skater dress in a lovely eye catching tropical print and I love the skinny patent belt to define the waist, the patent black also matches the shoes I've picked out. I am loving the crochet jacket, it looks so delicate and so glam especially when matched with a chic fedora and classic accessories.

I think this look would really suit Patty and can't wait to hear what she thinks as well as you guys so leave me a comment below with your thoughts!

Design Collective for Evans S/S15 Catwalk Show

Hey Everyone.

So unless you have been living under a rock you will have heard that Evans has amazingly become the first ever plus-size brand to show at London Fashion Week. I am so immensely jealous of anyone that got to see the show in person but from all the images I've seen (and believe me, I have checked every single google result), it looks INCREDIBLE.

Philip Green (owner of Arcadia Group) is quoted with the below:

“This is a big and important part of the market, and we need to be seen to embrace it. You cannot ignore the market place. And you can’t be defensive about it, or apologize about [plus-size fashion]. Why should the category be any different from petite?” Rock and roll Mr Green, I have to say I'm surprised to see the man behind Topshop coming out with something like this, but I applaud him for it. The statement above is literally pointing out something so obvious that it's crazy to think that there are brands out there that clearly can't accept this.

I'm so pleased to see how Evans have been taking the lead in an ever changing plus size market and really contributing to actual change. The Cut for Evans collection they released was excellent and showcased 2 upcoming designers and there will be a second collection with another set of new designers this winter which I am literally dying to see. Don't forget they were also the sponsor of British Plus Size Fashion Weekend which was incredible and deservedly gained the press attention it deserved this year thus putting plus size fashion in the spotlight further. They are also the people behind the most spoken about celebrity collaboration, being the Beth Ditto collection, that to this day sells for an absolute killing on Ebay and has people going crazy over!

It works so well because as a brand I feel Evans have a lot of trust from us as customers, we can justify a slightly higher price scale than for example George at Asda because you know the quality is there, the clothes are built to last and your favourite Evans coat will last you 5 years +, not until the end of the season. So when you put a reputable, trusted name, a great reputation with consumers and then mix it with complete innovation something amazing happens and that is what I see in this video.

As a plus size woman this almost brings tears to my eyes to see such beautiful clothes suddenly accessible to me and on the catwalk for London Fashion Week showcased on plus size models. The designs are relevant and completely wearable and have been reworked specifically for plus size women from the main collections of Giles Deacon, Jamie Wei Huang, Vita Gottlieb and long standing Evans collaborator, Clements Ribeiro.

Here are my favourites:

I think the bar has officially been raised now for plus size "high fashion", so game set and match to Evans. How will other retailers follow suit and learn from the success of this campaign? We will have to wait and see.

So I really want to hear what you guys think on this, leave me a comment below on what you think of the outfits/video and if you think this event could be a catalyst for further change in the industry.

Thanks for reading! Love Sally X

Don't forget to vote for me as "best new blogger" in the British Plus Size Awards, every vote counts and I would be eternally grateful for all of your support.

Everything Is Just Peachy

Hey Everyone!

Today I have an outfit of the day for you, possibly one of my favourites yet in terms of the actual clothing featured. I've had this dress a while, I bought it back when Simply Be had Sprinkle of Glitter do the lookbook video that I fell crazy in love with and pretty much bought every entire look featured.  I do have a habit of doing that every once in a while, I'll see an entire collection and obsess over it and just buy the whole thing *cough Cut for Evans*.

Anyway, my ridiculous spending habits aside, today I am showing you my latest "go to" dress. You know when you have that one dress that instantly makes you feel confident when you put it on, you know it looks good and it flatters you and it just shows on your face and you can't stop smiling. Well my previous "go to" dress was this one:

But this gorgeous peach number has overtaken it!
Where do I begin on reasons I love it so much?

The colour is just so flattering for me for a start, it matches my makeup and complexion perfectly.

It's the perfect length, neither too long or too short, it nips you in at the waist but then flares out with a netted skirt built in to give you volume.

And isn't the lace just so delicate and pretty with the detailing to the hemline.

I paired my outfit with this lovely bag from Marisota

and baby pink pumps from New Look

and a little heart necklace from a car boot sale (I do love a bargain!)

It looks perfect on the cute sweetheart neckline with mesh detail.

I think I've made it quite obvious how much I am in love with this dress, come night or day it is a total winner for me and I totally recommend trying one on yourself and having a twirl in front of the mirror.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments and I'd also love to see links to your current "go to" dresses. Let's share some love for some great clothes!

The Look Magazine for Simply Be Collection

Hey Everyone!

Last Friday brought the launch of the new Autumn Winter collection at Simply Be and also the latest collaboration with Look Magazine for their second collection together.

I'm going to be sharing my favourite picks from the collection and here is a video with all the different pieces, so watch that for a full overview before skipping to the bits I've picked.

The coat is such a bit of me, it's a great length, checked and where it's unlined I would layer it over a jumper with white shirt underneath and skinny jeans combo.

The dress strikes me as quite Marsha Brady with the vintage cut and design, it's very sixties which is a big trend for this Autumn/Winter. I'm going to be doing a separate blog post with a full trend forecast so keep an eye out for that!

The checked top is perfect for a matchy-matchy look with the coat above but would also look great on it's own paired with black skinny jeans. The sleeves are a good length too which is definitely something I appreciate!

The shirt is a very cool print, I would wear it over a black cami (as it's a bit sheer) and tucked into a black skater skirt for work.

Finally here are my two favourite pieces from the entire collection, the Mesh Trim Dress and the Grid Design Mesh Dress.

Where do I begin on the first one, I love the lace arms, the lace panels at the bottom of the skirt, and the shape is just so feminine and pretty. It's a nice twist to a classic LBD and something I would wear day or night and on a regular basis. I need it in my life!

The second dress ticks pretty much the same boxes for me, long sleeves with grid instead of lace detailing, a similar shape but with a lower scooped neckline and a the gridded mesh at the bottom of the skirt. The electric blue is very eye catching and the dress is a nice statement piece for day with flats or night with heels.

I am personally loving the collection, but don't take my word for it, check it out yourselves here and leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Dressed in Mint

Hey Everyone!

It's been a little while since we have had an outfit post, so when I ordered this lovely Simply Be dress I couldn't resist sharing my love for it! The weather is finally starting to even out, over the past few weeks it's been so sunny and hot or on the flipside soaking with rain, neither of which are conditions perfect for blog photos!!

Anyway, here we go!

I found this cool headband I bought from Primark ages ago when I was clearing my room and thought it looked really cute with this look. Where the mint jacquard material is so eye catching I wanted to keep my accessories plain black so they don't take away from the dress.

The dress doesn't have sleeves so I have popped a plain black tshirt underneath just to give me that extra coverage but you could achieve the same with a little bolero or cardigan.

Here are the full outfit details:
Dress: Simplybe Link!
Long sleeve black tshirt: Tesco
Tights: Asos Curve
Shoes: New Look
Headband: Primark

Now i have dressed this look down and worn the dress as a daytime look, to transform it into a night time look I would remove the tshirt underneath and put on a little shrug instead and swap the flats for some nice heels. You could also add a necklace to compliment the v neck detail and a cute clutch bag to keep your bits and bobs in.

What do you guys think of my new dress? I haven't really dabbled in mint too much before so this was something a bit different, it also comes in a really pretty pink though as well which I might need to give a go.

Until next time, thanks for reading! Love Sally X

Suits You - Kitty

Hey Everyone!

Hope you're all well and ready for another installment of the Suits You Challenge!

So far I have had the pleasure of styling Lisa and Nikki, this month will be the lovely Kitty from Adventures of a Riot Girl.

Here is the babe herself in the photo I was given to work from.

And here is the outfit I have put together for her! All of the items are from New Look which I am loving at the moment (seriously check out the latest range, I was impressed!).

The main piece I picked for Kitty is the lovely check print tunic, tartan is always popular for Autumn/Winter and I thought the darker colours would look lush with her dark hair and pale skin. I have accessoried the look with statement gold jewellery and a pair of cosy biker boots with a knitted panel and strap detailing.

I really like this look and hope it encapsulates Kitty's edgy rock & roll style. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below!

You can check Kitty out on the below social links:
