Out of this world...

Cosmic prints are remaining strong online and I can certainly see why. A beautiful mix of blues, purples and black with swirls giving an eye catching look to be worn from day to night.

My top picks are below:

ASOS CURVE Exclusive Wrap Top In Galaxy Print

The colours and print of this top are absolutely stunning while the flattering fabric skims your tummy with a tie waist showing off the smallest part of your waist. I would advise against over-accesorising with a print this loud and eyecatching on it's own but I would have either blue or purple shoes with black trousers to complete the look.

This Ebay gem is playing with pink and purple perfectly making the dress that little bit more girly. The fit is a fabulous bodycon and will look lovely with opaque black tights and either black, pink or purple shoes to match. A black shrug could also be added for those conscious of their arms. The dress goes up to a size xxl (20-22) but is of a stretchy fabric for comfort.

The same ebay seller also has these stunning print leggings which would be perfect with a long dark top and some black heels, I don't like the ones in the picture though. I don't think that cut out shoes would really be the best match when there is so much going on with the print.

Leggings Trends

At the moment printed/detailed leggings seem to be everywhere, plus size women are no longer keeping to the confines of the fail safe plain black legging but are embracing a more graphic, colourful alternative. Leggings will always be items close to my heart, combining everyday comfort and practicality while remaining versatile and fashionable with a range of patterns/materials.

I am going to outline below my personal picks available at the moment and go into detail about why they work and what I love about them.

1. Floral

As seen on one of my favourite Youtubers (Sprinkle of Glitter) these leggings look just amazing teamed with a simple black dipped tshirt and either heels for a night out or a plain pump for the daytime. The floral panel down the middle slims the leg and detracts the eye from particularly shapely calves. I have ordered these from ASOS over xmas and cost £18.00 which I think it pretty reasonable. When they arrive I will feature them in an outfit of the day post to show how I have styled them.

These Forever 21 all over floral print leggings also deserve a mention as they are perfect for spring and pastel shades are very girly and pretty. The print is of a Cath Kidston style and should be worn with light fabrics and shades for a cute daytime look.

2. Crosses

Black (Black) Praslin Black Gold Gothic Cross Leggings | 268774601 | New LookLink!

Now these beauties give a nod to the grunge/gothic glam look with a gorgeous foil print detailing that is oh so now. I would pair these with chunky shoes/boots, a long floaty top and a leather jacket pefect for day or night.

3. Bandage

ASOS CURVE Pleated Leggings Link!

These leggings look very Sass and Bide with their design and with their stretch woven fabric really brings you in and looks flattering. I would pair them with an long embellished chiffon top with simple accessories and cut out heels for a night out.

Welcome

Hey Readers

Welcome to my blog The Human Mannequin!

I’m just starting out blogging and as this is my first post I thought I’d tell you a little bit about what you can expect from my posts.

Beauty ~ Fashion ~ Hair ~ Life

I decided to start this blog after years of reading other blogs but the people writing them never really matched my bodytypes/style and the clothes and makeup looks featured never really translated as well when I tried them out. Don't get me wrong, I picked up some great tips but the posts never really felt tailored to my specific interests. The  average dress size in the UK is now a 16, which I think makes plus-size blogging a lot more relevant to the everyday reader, so I'll be writing mainly about plus size fashion hair, makeup, beauty and the products I love.

I'll also be writing about the different looks I’m into from season to season and covering trends. Being a bigger girl I’ve always found it hard to shop for clothes in the latest styles so I’ll be sharing those finds with you from a variety of outlets.  I want to emphasise that you can still look amazing without being stick thin, it's just a matter of picking the right clothes.

Although I'll mainly feature fashion posts in my blog, I'll also talk about things that I’m up to like events/dating/travelling and anything else that comes to mind at the time!  If you have any suggestions or there’s anything you'd like me to review or write about then you can comment below or email me.

Ive got loads of ideas for posts in the pipeline and I'm so excited to get started. So until next time..... I've been Sally and you've been Fabulous :)
