The Art Of Denim

Hey Guys!

So today I was feeling very 90s and opted for this denim number from Asos Curve. I absolutely love this dress and took it to Amsterdam as well but didn't photograph it unfortunately due to camera issues! My new Canon EOS 600D is now here though so pictures should improve VERY soon! It's so much fun having a new bit of kit to play around with. Anyway, back to the dress!

So as you can see the sleeves are roughly 3/4 length and have a button fastening, but I find that way a little tight so I have turned the sleeves up to the elbows which I think gives it a more casual look. The neckline is also nice and high yet still very flattering and the top half of the dress is more fitted whereas the bottom skirt flares out more with plenty of room to swish around.

The denim is quite heavy with not a lot of stretch but I found the dress true to size and comfy to wear. I decided to keep the look simple and pair with my ASOS curve tights and just plain black flats.

What do you guys think of this dress?

At Club Tropicana Prints Are Free

Hey Everyone!

So the weather is getting better, my mornings are getting brighter and spring/summer is officially here! In celebration of this I will be sharing with you my top picks of the latest tropical print clothing out in the plus size market.

First up are these gorgeous trousers I bought at British Plus Size Fashion Weekend on the MS.SVG stall. The print is beautiful, the trousers fit marvelously and are 100% Viscose for ultimate comfort. I would team them with a black vest top and flip flops for a perfect holiday look.

Junarose Tropical Print Trousers
£48

You can also purchase the matching bomber jacket in the same print, either to wear together or maybe to jazz up a plain black skater dress.
Junarose Tropical Bomber Jacket
£60

Next up is this lovely Anna Scholz designed dress for Simply Be, the acid fluro colours are so eye catching and if you look closely the print is made up entirely of leaves. Due to the modest length you could wear it during the day with bare legs and sandals for a laid back look or at night you can transform it with a pair of heels and complimenting jewellery.

Anna Scholz for Simply Be Print Dress
£65

Then there are these fabulous harem trousers which I got to see at the Curvissa event and are part of their SS14 collection. I think these are really wearable for an everyday look and Beka rocked them with a gorgeous coral jacket which complimented the colours of the butterflies.

Curvissa Tropical Print Harem Trousers
£35

Lastly we have this bargain, currently on a half price deal, from Vida Moda. The colours are very light, floral and girly and almost watercolour like in appearance. The dress is made of viscose so has plenty of stretch meaning you can size down and wear as body con or have looser depending on how you want to wear it. I absolutely love it and it's a total snip at the price! You could wear with flats or heels and add a cardigan if you feel nervous about exposing your arms.

Vida Moda Summer Dress
£41

What do you guys think of the tropical prints out at the moment? Will you be rocking them this summer? Leave any links to things you have bought in the comments so I can stalk them!

My Curvissa Experience ft Curve Project London

Hey Everyone!

Sorry about the lateness of this post, I have been AWOL in Amsterdam all this week but that's another story all together and one for another day!

So last Saturday I was invited to grab my plusport for a fun, summer themed day event with Curvissa and Curve Project London. As you know I worked with Curvissa, an up and coming plus size fashion brand, on British Plus Size Fashion Weekend and had such a good time that I naturally couldn't resist going along to their own event!

The event was at the Curve Project studio in Parsons Green and consisted of photoshoots, catwalk training, makeovers and modelling the latest Curvissa SS14 lookbook, sounds exciting hey? The Curve Project is a sort of training camp for wannabe plus size models or plus size ladies that want to feel good about themselves, but more on that later.

The clothes from the new Curvissa collection were really nice and colourful with some lovely tropical prints, some beautiful dresses from Lovedrobe which is stocked by Curvissa and gorgeous floral prints. Check out the new range yourself on this link. We all picked out an outfit to wear for the day with advice given by professional stylists to help us put together a full look. I chose a pair of cloud/camo print leggings and a boxy black top with my favourite new look tribal necklace and opted for plain black flats which definitely carried me well through the day in complete comfort!

So before the event we were told to arrive with no make up on, now I have no problem with that as I'm not someone that wears it a lot anyway, this was so the makeup artists have a truly blank canvas to work on. Here is a selfie of me before the makeover:

And after:

I had my foundation and concealer done perfectly for a flawless base, then opted for a smokey eye look with gel eyeliner on the lash line and pretty pink lipstick to finish the look. I then had my hair done into loose curls for a really pretty and girly overall look. I absolutely love the after look and it really hit home for me how much better I look with makeup on, which I don't think is the point of the workshop, but after half a day in no make up with photos being taken CONSTANTLY I felt so much better with a bit of coverage! I think I've actually come home with more of a complex about going bare faced, as the experts reiterated "film is forever" and I was literally at the point of tears at various points when I had a camera in my face and I had no makeup on and my hair was a mess, I felt awful and it was actually distressing.

I have to say that the best part for me was meeting all the other girls who were lovely, I thought it was such a great bunch of people and I loved hearing about their experiences in blogging and swapping tips, I'm so inspired to really do more on my own blog. I really hope that in the future I get to meet more blogger babes as they really are the most supportive, lovely, understanding people I have ever met!

I guess that leaves us with the catwalk training, now this is something I was dreading from the start! It's not something I feel happy doing, not from a confidence perspective but more just that I find it embarrassing (especially without a set structure and making things up as we go along) and it was definitely the low point of my whole day which was otherwise really fun and happy. Without going into too much detail, as I'm really not about dwelling on negatives, i'm sad to say that I opted not to be in the final catwalk video as I didn't want to be involved in something I wasn't truly happy with and confident about. I in fact actually broke down in tears due to a number of things including large amounts of unproductive criticism/undermining of my confidence, being laughed at and mocked, the fact I'd been there for hours with tonnes of waiting around and I was also upset about negative comments people had been writing about the other girls on facebook or instagram which really was the icing on the cake.

All of that aside though, I left feeling really happy with my makeover look, confident about picking flattering clothes for my body shape and absolutely certain that I NEVER want to be a plus size model as I could never deal with the amount of negativity that comes with working in that role. I feel the workshop gave an accurate indication of what it would be like and it's not something I could ever put myself through, my respect goes out to anyone that does.

I want to thank Curvissa for inviting me to the event, as I said above I had a great time other than the catwalk blip and the ladies at Curvissa literally did everything that they could to make the day as great as possible for us and it was lovely to get a preview of the new SS14 collection which is their best yet!

I'll leave you with a little Body Confidence questionnaire I filled in, let me know your own answers below in the comments if you would like to share them.

Thanks for reading guys, hopefully I'll have another post up soon for you!!

Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood

Hey Everyone!

After the hints I've been dropping on Twitter, I am so excited to share with you my Winnie the Pooh themed lookbook! Me and Charlotte spent the morning in the 100 Aker Wood exploring Pooh's hangouts and being transported back to childhood memories. It was such a fun experience and would highly recommend for anyone with children themselves or those like us that want to re-live a mini adventure of our own.

I hope you enjoy the pictures and here is a quick overview of my outfit:

Dress- George At Asda
Cardigan - George At Asda
Bag - Claire Richards for Fashion World*

I knew when I met you an adventure was going to happen.

Wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place at the top of the forest, a little boy and his bear will be playing.

You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.

Promise you wont forget me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred.

Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.

Remember you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.

Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.

Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

One advantage of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries.

It's a very funny thought that, if bears were bees, they'd build their nests at the bottom of trees, and being so (if bees were bears), we shouldn't have to climb up all those stairs.

Sometimes the littlest things take up the most room in your heart.

I used to believe in forever, but forever is too good to be true.

Now this post is coming to an end, but of course, it isn't really goodbye, because the forest will always be there... any anybody who is friendly with bears can find it.
