Beauty UK Posh Palette in Masquerade Review

Hi Everyone,

Today I am going to be doing a little review of an exciting new palette from the new Posh Palette range launched by Beauty UK. These palettes retail at £5.99 and if you can get them on a 3 for 2 deal  you can get all 3 for just £11.98! The palette I received to review is the Masquerade palette which consists of smokey colours but there is also the Eden palette with neutrals and the Festival palette with fun bursts of colour.

The palette packaging is very sleek with a simple white plastic case with black text design and it's much larger than the usual Beauty UK palettes. There is also a mirror on the inside lid which is a bit small to be honest and not of a huge benefit for application, which could also be said for the bog standard double ended foam top applicator which I never use. (Good though if you are just starting out and don't have pro brushes though).

The eye shadow pan size is similar to MAC and very different to the usual size for Beauty UK which is small but domed whereas now it's flat but bigger. I much prefer this format as it looks a lot more professional, I've always thought the generic palettes looked a bit child like and cheap in the past. I know better than to judge completely on packaging and the swatches have always been great, but let's face it we all want a pretty looking addition to our makeup kit. I think this is why I have so many Urban Decay palettes, they almost become fashion accessories with their awesome palette designs and look so nice in your handbag.

Below are my swatches, these are a bit of a mixed bag with some very sheer but others very pigmented. I found the darker colours had a lot more payoff on the skin and for me worked really nicely.

Over all, I do think the palette is a bargain and good value for money and would make a cute addition to any makeup collection.

Have you tried this palette yourself? What did you think?

Thanks for reading! Love Sally X

Haul!

Hey Guys!

So I've been bootsaling again locally in Hertfordshire and found some great bargains to share with you. I hope you like!

Elegant Touch Matte Nails in Mint Green- £1

I love the colour of these and might keep them for spring 2014 when pastels are all in.

Elegant Touch Matte Nails in Cobalt Blue- £1

I really like the matte finish of the nails and the colour is very bright and statement.

Elegant Touch Metallic Nails in Molten Silver- £1

These are a bit futuristic for everyday use, will probably save these for a halloween themed lookbook possibly.

Elegant Touch Colour Drench Nails in Hot Blue- £1

I love the two tone on this set which I think will look great mirrored with a navy and black eyeshadow look.

Elegant Touch Metallic Nails in Tip Tease- £1

Again, these are a bit out there for me so will save for a themed lookbook.

Smashbox Heatwave Lipgloss Set- £7

I really like the Smashbox lipglosses in general as I have always found them to be of a high quality and these ones are only newly released as part of the summer collection! I've seen some impressive swatches and can't wait to review these myself.

Mac Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Goes and Goes -£1.50

I really like the vampishness of this lipstick and it was a total snip at £1.50! Review/swatches to follow.

Elf Studio Blusher in Pink Passion- £1.50

I've wanted to try out the studio line for a while now and can't wait to try this blusher out. The colour looks very bright though so hopefully won't been too dramatic on the skin.

Mark Hill Hairspray- £0.50, Bumble and Bumble BB Prep- £4 and Givenchy Very Irresistable- £8

This perfume smells absolutely amazing, very floral and flirty and summery so a definitive standout item from the haul. I'm also really happy with the hair products, Bumble and Bumble is so expensive at full price so I'm excited to try the spray out at only a fraction of the price.

Overall I'm really chuffed with the things I got and for such little money. Have any of you been bootsaling? What are your best buys?

To follow will be my bootsale outfit of the day post, so check that out too.

Dainty Doll Powder Blushes

Hi All,

Recently I bought a haul of Dainty Doll products on sale on www.fragrancedirect.co.uk they were 80% off and only £1.99 which is obviously a total bargain! I've been curious about the brand, created by Nicola Roberts specifically for pale girls and am really excited to try out a range of products.

First I will start with the powder blushes and the other products will follow in separate posts to keep them short and concise.

Top L-R: My Girl, You Are My Sunshine
Bottom L-R: Hippy Shake, Money Talks

First of all the packaging is really cute, very vintage and retro looking but classy and the compacts are simple black with a mirror. The compact does attract fingerprints and marks which leaves it looking grubby quite quickly which is a shame but I bought it for the product inside so not a huge issue for me. Another slight issue is that the compacts only have the number of the blush and not the names. You get 7g of product inside, for comparison Mac powder blushes are 6g so you are getting more product for a fraction of the price. But how good are they? Swatch time!

Top to bottom: Hippy Shake (lilac), Money Talks (tan/bronze), You Are My Sunshine (pink/gold),
 My Girl (pink)

The pigmentation is good, a creamy texture, blends well and the colours are pretty. I can't ever see a use for Hippy Shake which is a lilacy white and blends just to a sheer white but the other 3 are really quite nice and I can see myself getting use out of them. I would put them on a similar level to my Look Beauty blushes and think they are a bargain at £1.99 but wouldn't have paid the full price if i'm honest.

I hope you enjoyed the review and thanks for reading. Love Sally X

My new fave £1 blusher!!

Hi All,

I am really excited to talk to you about a little project I have been doing for the past couple of weeks which involves me testing £1 makeup items in the hope of finding some gems and I think I have managed just that.

Let me introduce you to the Chit Chat Powder Blusher from Poundland. I got two different shades as shown below:

Desert Flower- A pastel peach with pink tones

Blossom Pink- A baby pink with slight yellow tones

As these were from Poundland I was unable to swatch or test the products first so I essentially bought these blind and from the cheap looking packaging I didn't initially have very high hopes for the quality. However, once I got home I swatched these and was suitably impressed.

Top- Desert Flower Bottom- Blossom Pink

Left- Desert Flower Right-Blossom Pink

The consistency of the products are very smooth and almost creamy with extremely high pigmentation from a single light swatch. The colours are very pretty, easily wearable and blendable to a more sheer look if needed. I will definitely be using these blushers and will be keeping an eye out for other shades to see if they match up to the standard of the ones I have tested.

I hope you enjoyed this post and please let me know in the comments if you would like to read more £1 makeup reviews. Love Sally X

Yves Rocher Haul

Yves Rocher is one of those websites that I constantly get emails from containing special offers, discounts, free gifts with purchases etc and they have finally managed to wear me down into making a purchase. Their marketing is very clever, personalising each email and focusing on whatever offer is on, sometimes multiple ones are on at once which is what managed to entice me, everyone likes to feel they are getting something for nothing no? That accompanied with the fact the mascara I have been lusting over was on half price sale was enough to send me over the edge and make the purchase.

So here is the low down on what I got:

Candied Mallows Gift Set- contains shower gel/hand cream/hand soap
£6.50

2 Lipsticks in Candy Pink/Peach
£3.50 each

Peach

Candy Pink

2 Sexy Pulp Ultra Volume Macaras
£8.45 each

Candied Mallows EDT 50ml
£12.90

Then the rest was free!

Fleece Blanket in bag

Organza Bag

 Sachet Samples x3

Gold Eyeshadow

Pure Light Foundation

I will warn you that the shipping takes forever, but all things considered I am pretty happy with my goodies and can't wait to try them out for further review!

Thanks for reading! Love Sally x
