Summer Music Festivals - My Essentials This Year

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all well and having a nice week.

Today we are going to be talking about summer music festivals! I did a series last year sharing some of my top picks on fashion, footwear and other bits and bobs which hopefully I'm going to do again this year. Today's post is going to be a super quick checklist on some of the key things that I will be taking with me this year and that hopefully you will find useful.

First of all, this year I will be taking multiple portable phone charging banks. My phone is an absolute nightmare when it comes to rinsing the battery and I want to make sure I can get hold of my friends at all times and also be able to take photos on the go to share with you guys on Instagram! I'll be looking for ones that are lightweight and have a high storage capacity to make sure they last as long as possible.

Next, I'll be taking a sturdy water bottle. There are always taps to fill up from and I want to make sure that I am hydrated throughout the day as when it's hot and you are doing loads of walking and dancing, it is really easy to start feeling a bit faint and dehydrated if you don't have enough liquid which can be really dangerous.

I'll also be taking some fun fashion items, I'll have a minimum of one flower crown (probably more), some custom printed t-shirts for me and the girl gang to wear together and then nice jewellery such as personalised wristbands from https://www.welovewristbands.com/ where you can create your own designs and make them look really cool.

This year I must remember to make sure I pack a more heavy duty fold up chair, the one I took last time was absolutely knackered after a few days and I want to get a proper metal frame camping style one as when you're sat around your tent chilling out, the last thing you want is a wobbly cheap one that you fear will collapse at any second (it didn't thankfully).

Another good thing to take would be a supply of plastic carrier bags. I cannot even tell you how handy these come in for carrying food, dirty clothes or shoes, drinks, keeping stuff clean and meaning you can pack it all in your case without mixing everything in together. Take a good 5-10 and you wont regret it, they take up next to no space as well.

I hope you found these useful, if you want to see a full festival checklist post tell me in the comments below and I can try and put something together.

Summer Festivals - Footwear

Hey Everyone!

Today is going to be a round up of my favourite festival footwear, I hope it gives you some ideas!

These are perfect for ladies with thicker calves as they stop at the slimmest part of the leg, the ankle. They come in a range of colours so you can match your outfits.

I've included three sandal options, these are great for giving your feet a rest and walking around comfortably.

Peacocks Floral Wellies

I really like the romantic floral print, I have so many dresses that would go perfectly with these!

I absolutely love the fruit print on these and the handle design is absolute genius for carrying them around with.

The colours and prints on these boots are fabulously bright and vibrant. The neoprene top part has a wide opening making them easy to slip on and off and comfy to wear.

Le Chameau Cabourg Folding Boots

I had to include these boots, the folding design is really useful and unique and means you can pack these so easily in your holdall.

Helly Hansen W Midsund

I like the design of these, it's very classic and the colours below are giving me a bit of a seventies vibe (just me?).

 Helly Hansen W Veierland

SoleM8 Funky Fish

I love the fishies and raindrops prints, they give the boots a nice kitschy retro feel.

The design of these is such a bit of me, I'm a huge fan of fairisle jumpers and the knitted style prints on these wellies.

I hope you liked my choices, let me know your favourite in the comments below!

Thanks for reading.

Summer Festivals - Welly Warehouse

Hey Everyone!

Today I have the latest installment of my festival series and we are going to be looking at a selection of wellington boots from the Welly Warehouse

I think we have all probably experienced the not so pleasurable experience of muddy fields, getting your best sandals wrecked or taking boots that were comfortable in the shop but in actuality feel like a cheese grater against your heel. I guess that's why wellies are now a staple for most people when they go to festivals.

Here are my top picks from the selection on the Welly Warehouse site to hopefully offer some inspiration!

First up are the Mooi En Lief Feather Festival Wellies, these look awesome with the feather detailing which is removable so you can wear them with or without to switch it up.

Next are these funky Talolo Paisley Vibe Cowboy Wellies, I love the cowboy boots shape and the print is so cool and boho.

Here are the Dr. Martens Drench Rubber Wellies, I love the novelty of these. They are perfect for a punky, rock and roll alternative.

Then there are the Black Crocodile Wellies which are reminiscent of the Hunter for Jimmy Choo ones but a fraction of the price at just £11.99!

Finally are the Black Zip Wellies, I was kindly sent a pair to try out for myself and hopefully attest to their quality so read on to find out what I thought.

Design wise, they are a matt black and in a shorter height so fit my calves nicely without needing to undo the zips for a bit more room. They have a nice thick sole and grippy bottom, I tested them out walking the dogs and they were perfectly comfortable when navigating the overgrowth that is the field we visit.

I like the red accents with the zips, while I don't undo them they still add a nice detail and the red and black reminds me of the famous Cheryl Cole fight for this love outfit. Do you know the one I mean?

I've probably been wearing these now for a few weeks (while writing this, I photographed them new before they got all muddied up!), and I've had a positive experience. They are nice and comfortable, haven't worn anywhere and are sturdy to walk in. I am dying to get myself a pair of black welly socks to go over the tops and keep my feet even more snug, I can definitely see myself wearing them for things like bootsales and dog walking on a regular basis.

I hope you liked this post, I'd love to know what wellies you guys all have. Let me know in the comments below or tweet me a pic @sallywills. If you want to check out any of the styles featured above hop on over to https://www.wellywarehouse.co.uk for the full selection and some fab prices.

Summer Festivals - Tobar Light up bunting

Hi Everyone,

I had a fantastic response to my To The Beach Series so I couldn't resist doing the same for the Summer Festival season that is now upon us. Over the course of this series we will be looking at all sorts of products that can enhance your experience and we will round off with a final "Survival Guide" of tips and things to be aware of from my past festival trips.

Today I'm going to show you a nifty tent accessory that looks in a word AWESOME, is affordable and just something that is totally something I would use. The product I am talking about is the Tobar Light Up Bunting*.

Doesn't it look fab? The best thing about it is that it's completely portable and doesn't have a mains plug, it's powered by 3 AAA batteries making it perfect to take away to a festival or BBQ or picnic.

The total length of the bunting is 3 metres and it comes with a set of handy hooks to keep the flags in place.

As you can see below, the bunting is lovely and colourful even without the lights switched on, so a cool feature for either day or night.

I hope this gives you a nice idea for something you can take along to your next summer festival and make your tent look amazingly instagrammable (is that even a word?!).

Thanks for reading and talk soon.

Get one step ahead this summer

Happy Friday everyone!

Summer seems to bring with it a whole host of events that can often require new outfits. I’ve picked out some of my favourite shoes for s/s 2013 and given an idea of how and where I’d love to wear them:

BBQs

BBQs are one of my favourite parts of summer, I  love getting together with friends and family and being outside so long you see it turn from day to night. They are really popular all the way through the summer so I’d want to be wearing something comfortable and that I can wear all day. Pumps are great for this as they’re so comfy and they come with so many different styles and patterns that you can vary them up. I love a nice floral print in summer especially teamed with some denim shorts for a great casual look.

Festivals

Wellies are a given (unfortunately), don’t get me wrong wellies come in some amazing styles these days but the last thing you want at a festival is rain. I always try to be as optimistic as possible and plan for sun, although this has backfired on me before. However if you are praying for sun at a festival I would say trainers are my ultimate shoe. Anyone who has been to one knows that you don’t want to be carrying a lot so I try to take as little as possible, which isn’t easy. It’s great if you think about your outfits beforehand and then you can literally just take those rather than taking loads of clothes you won’t wear. There are some great outfit ideas in this post and all are perfect to be paired with a pair of retro high-tops. Gold or silver would be my choice but they come in so many different colours making them perfect for summer. You can dance all day in them and if the heavens should open at least you’re not getting caught in the rain in sandals.

Parties

I never need an excuse to attend a party but it is great in summer because of all the colours that are available (it feels so good to get out of black sometimes). I can never resist a pair of killer heels so of course that is going to be choice for a party especially in summer – if you’re in a dress they will make your legs look like they go on for miles! I really like to experiment with different materials as well as colours so metallic or suede is great. I would probably keep the dress simple though so I could let the shoes make a statement and have a great clutch bag to go with them. If you’re feeling daring try a clutch in a contrasting shade to your shoes to really stand out.

Weddings

Almost as common as BBQs in summer are weddings. It makes perfect sense really, the bride is never going to want to risk rain on her big day. I think any sort of formal occasion in summer whether it be a wedding or a day at the races is the perfect opportunity for open toe shoes or sandals. I always feel like I never really get a chance to wear these so I look forward to anything that provides the opportunity. They’re elegant and sophisticated whilst still being really summery and have just enough heel to make you look nice without being in serious pain at the end of the day.

I hope you like my choices and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Thanks for reading!
