Christmas Tips for Dog Owners

Hi Everyone!

Now as I'm sure you're all fully aware, Christmas is fast approaching us! It's a time to spend with your friends and family and course not forgetting your little furry companions.

My little buddies have been featured on my blog a few times now and Sadie, Lexi, Frank and Miley absolutely love Christmas! It's full of all sorts of interesting smells, colours and people but it's always important to make sure that they don't get overwhelmed as it does mean that we go outside of their usual routine.

Below I have included a short video from Petplan which has a number of really important but simple things to be aware of, I would really recommend giving it a watch as it's not all obvious and these are all things that I personally take note of.

In party scenarios I think it's always really important to have a safe place for the dogs to be able to chill out in away from the noise, usually for us it's the kitchen and we have their doughnut beds out with fluffy blankets and lot's of toys to play with. We also will nominate one of us to check in for toilet breaks and to take them out in pairs for walks every couple of hours to give them a bit of exercise and to make sure that they aren't missing out on their usual outside activities which they LOVE!

The point about the tree is also really important, in our naive earlier years of having dogs we would dress up the tree all nicely and have it packed with baubles all the way down.  The dogs would always be pulling on them, pulling them off completely or knocking over the tree like something out of You've Been Framed! To be fair we used to have the more flimsy artificial ones with the tiny plastic bases, nowadays we make sure to go for the non-drop sturdier based ones. It's better for us anyway in that there's no mess but it also means that the dogs cant get any of the needles stuck in their paws or accidentally eat them.

On the subject of eating, chocolate decorations will be sniffed out  (believe me!) and are poisonous to dogs so keep them at the top of the tree just to be safe and to make sure they are there for you to eat. Also when it comes to leftovers from your Christmas dinner you need to make sure that you don't give your dogs any cheese, grapes, cooked bones, onions or garlic as it can make them ill as well as it upsets their little tummies.

Me and my sisters usually make the dogs their own Christmas dinners, so they each have a turkey flavoured wet food, biscuits, dog safe chocolate drops and some supermarkets even have an actual Christmas dinner flavoured food in their festive selection for pets so definitely have a look.

Then when we all exchange gifts they will each get a bone as a Christmas present wrapped up for them. Our dogs probably love wrapping paper more than the actual bones, I think it's the scrunching noise when they roll around on it!! We have also on occasion bought them Christmas jumpers which they like to go out for walks in because they are fleece lined and all snug for them when we are outside.

I for one literally cannot wait for Christmas to come and I hope all you guys have great plans for the next couple of weeks, especially with your pets.

Floric Gold Frankincense & Myrrh Bouquet Review

Hey Guys!

Today I am bringing you a completely different type of floral to what you usually see on here! You've seen how much I love floral prints and needless to say I have the same affection for the real thing so I thought I'd share with you a gorgeous bouquet that I was sent from Floric to review.

Firstly I have to say that it was incredibly difficult to pick which bouquet I wanted, their Christmas selection is literally stunning and I love all the festive colours. The whole shopping process just made me really excited about Christmas in general as this is the first "decoration" in my house and has set the ball running especially now we have decided on a colour theme for the tree.

After much deliberation I went for the Gold Frankincense and Myrrh Bouquet* which is a mix of white roses and gold gypsophila and comes with a little voile bag you place on the radiator to release a frankincense and myrrh sent into the room. Perfect right?

Now I'm sure you're waiting for the pictures, wait no more!

Here is the box the bouquet arrived in, a pretty purple and it kept the flowers perfectly intact.

The bouquet comes wrapped in this luxe gold packaging tied with a ribbon

and comes with a gift card with the option of a personalised message and the little bag of frankincense & myrrh to put on the radiator.

The flowers are absolutely lovely and I think the pictures pretty much speak for themselves in that sense. The white and gold will look just perfect in my cream living room in a nice ornate vase.

I am really thrilled with my flowers, they look amazing and the scent is beautiful. This bouquet retails at £39.99 including free mainland weekday delivery which I think is great value for money and there is the option to choose the delivery date. You can check out the full range they offer here: http://www.floric.co.uk/ and Christmas selection here: http://www.floric.co.uk/product-categories/9/christmas-flowers/ .

I also have another treat to share, Floric are running a competition for children to win a christmas tree for their family. All they need to do to enter is draw a picture of a decorated christmas tree, the more creative the better! You will then need to post the picture either to Floric’s Facebook & Like the page (https://www.facebook.com/floricuk) or their Twitter and follow (@floricuk) and use the Hashtag on both which is #GiftsOfGold. The competition closes on December 15th and more info can be found: http://www.floric.co.uk/content/61/christmas-tree-competition

I hope you enjoyed this post, I have lot's of festive themed goodies coming up that I can't wait to share with you.

National Christmas Jumper Day!

Hey Everyone!

So when I think christmas jumper, in my head I'm immediately picturing the famous Bridget Jones scene and we are talking serious cheese!

Well over the past couple of years the xmas jumper has morphed into something oh so much cooler, and in a sort of hipster dig at ugly jumpers people are now sporting awesome designs and wearing them is really fun and festive! Today I am taking part in National Christmas Jumper Day, which is an event in connection with Save the Children where you can text "WOOLLY" to 70050 to donate £1 (T's and c's)  and sport a xmas jumper of your choice.

I was recently contacted by Simplybe who have kindly provided me with a jumper for the occasion which is in a word, ADORABLE! You can check out their full range here.

I had a choice out a range of super cute designs and I went for the white mittens jumper. The knit is really soft and comfortable and on a freezing cold morning I was nice and cosy. The design itself is simplistic, there is black trim around the neckline and wrists as accents and the mittens look as if they are hanging round your neck in the classic christmassy colours.

The length is really good on me too, with plus size clothing sometimes jumpers can come up short and wide, but the proportions were perfect! I would also say the jumper runs true to size and has a bit of stretch if needed.

Jacquard Dress- George at Asda
Boots- Primark

I am so chuffed with this jumper and shall be sporting it on xmas day when I'm tucking into my turkey! I can't wait!

What christmas jumpers are you sporting this year? Tell me about them below!

My Top 10 most played songs this week

Halle - fricking - lujah, it's finally the weekend!

Today I thought I would share 10 songs that I have been playing loads this week, I've never touched upon my musical tastes so this is a bit of a random post. But hey, let's take our relationship to the next level and get to know each other, learn each others interests.

In no particular order:

1. Bruno Mars - If I Was Your Man - a shout out to all the stupid ex boyfriends out there

2. The Vamps - Can We Dance - these guys are adorable, the lyrics are catchy, need I go on?

3. Fergie - Labels or Love - to spark off a Sex and the City themed mind montage

4. Christina Perri - A Thousand Years - this song appeals to the Twi-hard in me, the lyrics are lovely too!

5. Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know - I'm a sucker for a John Lewis advert, there I said it!

6. The Lumineers - Ho Hey - a really easy listening tune with solid lyrics

7. Passenger - Let Her Go - LOVE this guys voice, it's so unique

8. Avicii - Wake Me Up - one of my favourite songs to warble along to in the car

9. Avicii - You Make Me - *high pitch screech* "Allllllll myyyyy liiiiiiife"

10. Jason Derulo - Talk Dirty to Me - it's a bit rendevous and the sound effects in the "clean" version make me laugh

What have you been listening to? What lyrics can't you get out of your head? Tell me below!
