The Wonka Experience

Good Morning Starshine, the earth says hello.

You may or may not have seen my tweets on this, but as a birthday treat me and my friend Gareth made our way to Essex with our Golden ticket in hand (ok computer print out in hand) to visit the wonderful world of Willy Wonka.

I'm a huge fan of pretty much all of Roald Dahl's books but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has to be one of my absolute favourites so when I heard there was a walkthrough experience (probably more aimed at kids) I couldn't pass it up and managed to convince Gareth it might be a laugh at least!

You enter the experience under the guidance of the suitably eccentric Willy Wonka himself and to the tune of "Pure Imagination" just like in the film. The children in our group were literally hanging on his every word, as far as they were concerned he was the real deal and they were somewhere truly magical.

I learnt about candy canes and how the baby ones grow super curly and then grow upwards as they get older leaving only the small curl at the top. I also saw a lake full of lime soda, lot's of lollipops and candies, unfortunately not edible though!

The experience is very interactive, you go through a maze of mini scenarios such as a girl stuck in a tube, a bratty one that wants a golden goose egg and an American girl that is shrunk and stuck inside a television. The common theme being that we need to find Charlie in order to fix these problems also with the aid of some very mischievous oompa loompas.

The whole thing was really quite fun, even as an adult, our whole group was really immersed in the experience and laughing pretty much the entire way through. Especially at these ridiculous hats for the Wonka Vision scene, which served a practical purpose against a low ceiling but provided comedic value in equal measure.

The experience culminated as we found Charlie with his "attrifruits" and all of the problems in the earlier scenarios were resolved. Result!

Afterwards we had a few hours in nearby Southend before going back home and demolishing 2 large Dominos pizzas (between us, not each) which were just epic!

I hope you enjoyed this post, I had a great birthday and for those of you wondering, my dress is from the Claire Richards range at Fashion World.

Feeling Blue

Hey Everyone!

Hope you're all well, I'm feeling a bit better after a dreadful case of flu which has just consumed all my energy. Because of this I haven't been out taking photos so today's post is from the archive!!

These photos were taken a while ago on a day out with Charlotte at Myddleton House. These will be the last photos from this location as I feel I've pretty much photographed everything there is to be photographed now! I love exploring new places so hopefully I can find some cracking new locations to share with you, I already have a few ideas!

So on to the outfit!

This bag* is from the Claire Richards range at Fashion World, it's really good as a practical day bag and fits everything I need. The strap is also long enough which is rare thing for me.

The dress is from Asos Curve, it's one of my all time favourites and possibly top 5 most worn. I wear it for pretty much every work meeting or interview I have as I just feel it looks smart and fits perfectly.

The cardigan is a vintage find from a shop in Notting Hill, I have no idea on the brand but I love the contrast of the cream with the gold edged ruffles and the fabric is very light weight and stretchy.

And lastly, my boots are from a car boot sale and cost me £9 I think, I got them ages ago. I have worn these so much as they go with pretty much everything.

I like this outfit post, I don't know why I haven't put it up earlier to be honest. I guess I just feel a bit out of the loop on the blogging world at the moment after taking out a few weeks just to start feeling better. But alas, I am still here and will be working on new content for you guys. A lot of you have asked on haircare tips for long hair which I'll be working on next, so hopefully we can get a mix of outfits and also more beauty themed posts going forwards!

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me and I'll see you again soon!

Thanks for reading. Love Sally X

Claire Richards for Fashion World Tea Party

Hey Everyone!

So on Thursday I attended the Fashion World tea party, showcasing Claire Richards SS14 collection. The venue was the stunning Haymarket Hotel near Trafalgar Square and after getting rather lost I turned up looking slightly dishevelled but mega excited for the night ahead.

As you can see from the below pics, the room was lovely and Fashion World really went to town on the cakes and presentation, it was perfect.

So after wolfing down some of the best cupcakes I have honestly ever tasted and then having a relaxing hand massage, I shimmied over the clothing rail of the new collection, and I have to say it didn't disappoint!

Below are my favourite pieces, I would have included them all but I don't want to overload you guys with tonnes of pics so the page take ages to load! Add me on facebook if you want to see all my pics from the events I go to etc as I upload them all there by the album!

So first is a gorgeous silky butterfly kimono wrap, I thought the print was just lovely.

Then we have the lovely blue and white maxi dress I've seen on a couple of bloggers lately, I think this would be super cute for summer.

Then we have probably my personal favourite, I love the floral print and the fact it has 3/4 length arms, it's just a really pretty and feminine piece.

Then we have a gorgeous brocade textured coat, I don't think it would suit me, but had to include as it's beautifully made and the quality really is there.

Then we have another blogger favourite in the lace jumper, I like how it's so wearable and can be dressed up or down depending on the occassion.

Oh and we mustn't forget the wonder jeans everyone is raving about. Now I struggle with jeans as I'm sure a lot of us do and the sizing/proportions are never quite right for me so I have high hopes for these and think I might just give them a try. The criss cross detailing and the three buttons is a nice addition too, it's adds just a little something don't you think?

Then we have this stunner of a dress that Claire herself was wearing, I love it, I want it, odds are I will get it to add to my collection.

And last but not least for clothing is this lovely number I've seen bloggers raving about, the floral detailing is beautiful and the pink really stands out from the black base fabric. The cut is really flattering, it's well made and it would be perfect for any occasion.

Then we have a bag from the collection which I was kindly gifted in my goody bag, so expect to see it pop up in some OOTDs. It's really nice and goes with everything!

This is my favourite pair of shoes from the range, they are so wearable and the heel isn't too daunting for a clumsy person like me!

A few more pictures of yummy food, sorry couldn't resist!

And a couple of Claire herself who looked absolutely stunning in her own creation dress.

I had the most fantastic evening and I got to meet some of my favourite bloggers who I'm sure already have/will be telling you about the experience too. It just goes to show that when you step out of your comfort zone and start going to events like this, the rewards really are incredible in terms of the friends you make and the things you get to experience first hand, I want to thank Fashion World so much for inviting me, it was a great evening.

I hope you liked my post, do you guys want to see more event write ups in detail? Let me know!

Thanks for reading guys! Love Sally X
